What is ‘Whole Brain development’? As we are aware that our brain structure with a right hemisphere and a left hemisphere.

From the time of conception and birth, our brain starts to develop a dominant side. The number of crawls we do as a child, and other fine and gross motor skills as we reach our milestones, directly impact which side of our brain we will use the most.

Left brain dominant learners are logical thinkers. They excel is subjects such as Mathematics and Science. They prefer to map out ideas before tackling a task. These types of learners are very strategic and systematic.

Right brain dominant learners are more creative, they prefer Arts and Dance. They prefer to tackle tasks and learn from the outcome. They rarely plan and are emotional and more sensitive. They very free spirited and very imaginative.

 

According to a scale of 1- 10

If we consider a number scale from 1 to 10: 1 being left brain dominant and 10 right brain dominant. A child can be considered whole brain when they reach a scale of 5. This makes them neither left nor right brain dominant, but completely balanced.

Eruditio bases our curriculum on skill-based learning, where we assist learners in reaching the point of equilibrium and becoming ‘whole brain.’

This directly affects their spatial awareness, social interactions amongst peers and strengthens their emotional intelligence. They automatically become more grounded within themselves and have great self-confidence.

 

The earlier we can assess a child the easier it is to create a well-founded balance.

During my practise of teaching over the years, I understood that learners identify concepts however undergo anxiety and blank out in their exams. They prepare for tests yet find it challenging to attain high marks. This is purely because they are not aware of their dominant structure and lack the tools to assist them in coping.
